I have a question?

my dentist said that i need to wear braces

but my family's income is low

and we have medical to help us pay for everytime we visit doctors or dentists

my dentist said that medical probably won't pay if i wear braces

is that true?

anyway, i live in south California

I have a question?
HI,

MEDICAL INSURANCE WILL NOT FOR YOUR BRACES. IF YOU HAD DENTAL INSURANCE THAT INCLUDED ORTHODONTICS, THAT WOULD HELP. THE BEST THING FOR YOU TO DO IS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A NEW PATIENT CHECK UP AT THE ORTHODONTIST OFFICE, DO THE EXAM AND LET THEM GIVE YOUR PARENTS OPTIONS ON HOW TO PAY. MANY ORTHO OFFICES LET YOU PAY ON A MONTHLY BASIS AND THEY ALSO HAVE LOAN PROGRAMS. AT LEAST GO FOR YOUR FIRST VISIT TO FIND OUT YOUR OPTIONS. GOOD LUCK.
Reply:i think that it would pay for some of it but not all
Reply:you need dental insurance.

dental insurance might only pay for PARTIAL of orthodontic dental needs. It's not like youre going to lose your teeth, its more cosmetic. that's how they look at it anyway.
Reply:if you have dental insurance they should cover 50% of orthodontics........... braces
Reply:Even if you need a dental procedure that AFFECTS your medical issues (such as extraction of an infected tooth) medical will STILL rarely cover it! To eat nutriously, you need healthy teeth, but the health ins. people do NOT give a damn about that.

I have NEVER heard of a medical ins. policy that will cover braces.

"Need" is a funny word... it's possible you can benefit from braces and some people certainly could use them to prevent future problems, but you probably don't NEED them.

If you want them, i would suggest getting a part time job and saving upt 'til you have 3-4000 dollars. It's ok to get them later in life, tho' they're easier/faster w/ younger patients.
Reply:Most companies consider braces "cosmetic". and will not cover if it dosent cause a medical problem , that is for your question on medical insurance. (medical usually sticks to the bod any way) The other option is to finde some one willing to do pro bono(free ) or a case study or in dental school .Your dentist or the local ortho dentist may have some leads for you . Good luck !

True, medi-cal pays only very severe cases, braces are expensive but not out of reach. I also live in so cal. and my son needed braces and like you medi-cal would not cover, so I saved a little money and started with the x-rays and pictures and now I make monthly payments on his braces. Good luck
Reply:well, most of the time this kind of insurance that you have won't pay for braces UNLESS your case goes far beyond from just cosmetic, if is a extreme case "medicaid will pay for all of it if is just cosmetic, I am afraid they will not cover it.

Consult your dental policy and your orthodontist.
Reply:You need a Dental Plan.
