everyone in my family seem to be born with breath problems. even the small babies. how is that possible. The dentists don't have all the answers.
Are you born with gingivitis?
the clinical definition of gingivitis is: inflamation of gums, caused by bacteria/plaque on teeth.
No, babies are not born with inflamed gums - gums get inflamed when they begin teething, but that's a different clinical diagnosis completely.
It is hereditary, however, to have gastric reflux problems. Maybe the bad breath is originating from the stomach, and not the gums?
Reply:I think some people are more prone to it. I am not exactly sure but I think I've read before that vitamin B defiency is linked to this dental problem. Those who are born to require more vitamin Bs than the average people are probably more likely to experience gingivities. I am not an expert and my memory is not too reliable. I think that's what I read but it's better to ask someone who really knows these things.
Reply:It can be partly due to hereditary factors, but taking care can reduce problems. From http://drcaird.com
