Moving to/Living in Germany?

Hello. In the future I am planning on moving to germany perminantly. How does immigration work and what factors are involved with moving there? Does having family there help? I am a dentist and would preferably want to open a practice so I dont necessesarily have a "job offer". Thanks alot for your answers.

Moving to/Living in Germany?
Having family in Germany may help, however everything a little more complicated.

Step by step:

1. Getting the residence permit:

If you are citizen from any EU-Country, EEA-Country (European Economic Area) citizen or Swiss national you have the so called "free-movement" privilege. That means, you do not need to apply for a visa or a permit to move to Germany and you do not need to go through the whole bureaucratic stuff to work in your profession. Everything you have to do is to register your self by the immigration authority. You will have to submit some documents, but that's all. Which documents you have to submit depends on your citizenship: Citizen from the new EU-Countries might fulfill special conditions first. You can find more information in the following link (European Union Official Web)

http://ec.europa.eu/eures/main.jsp?catId...

If you are NOT citizen from any EU-Country but citizen from any of the following countries:

Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea and the United States of America.

you may obtain any residence permit that may be required after entering Germany if you fulfill the requirements as for example: proving that your financial situation is good enough for not needing any public help.(For more Information, please look in the following link : German Ministry of Foreign Affairs):

http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/en/...

If you are not either of the both cases above, you will have to apply for a residence permit at the German consulate. The requirements you have to fulfill depends on your citizenship.

However as high qualified professional it could be easier to get such a permit, as the German immigration law chapter 4 Art. 18 considers high qualified professionals as special case under certain circumstances as for example: The need for the German economy or the existence of agreements about work permit for determinated professions between Germany and your country etc. For knowing if your profession is considered part of this category you have to put your self in touch with the German consulate.

As you do not want to be employee but have your own practice, you may fulfill the requirements of chapter 4 art. 21 German immigration law. I am afraid I did not find the text in English, but it concerns basically about how your qualifications, how much money as investment you should show, how many employees you should have (for most of the areas normally a minimum of 10) etc. I can imagine the consulate can provide you the text in English. If you speak German, please look the following link:

http://www.info4alien.de/

Under "Rechtssammlung" you will find the text of the German Inmigration law (in German: Aufenthaltsgesetz (AufenthG) ) you should also look in the following laws (available in the same link):

- Zuwanderungsgesetz (complement to the immigration law)

- Beschäftigungsverordnung - BeschV

This is about visa and residence permit.

2. Now we go to the permission to work as dentist in Germany. I am afraid it is not that easy.

Normally before being recognized and registered as dentist and getting your official permit to work as dentist you might fulfill some requirements as for example to work for and under the supervision of an registered dentist for a determinated period of time (from 6 months to 2 years, depending on where you studied, I mean in what country) plus your degree must be recognized by the German Authorities as for example, by the Superior Education Section of the Ministry of Education etc.

But before you desperate, please contact and ask by the German Dentists association (in German: Kassenzahnärztliche Bundesvereinigung) if there is an agreement between your country and Germany. In some cases you do not need to go through the whole thing when there is an special agreement. If not the case you can get more information in this association about the requirements to fulfill, procedures and steps to follow in order to get your accreditation.

The official link of the German Dentists association ( Kassenzahnärztliche Bundesvereinigung) is as follows:

http://www.kzbv.de/

under "kontakt" you can find phone, e-mail and address info or you can also send a message. If you do not speak German you can send your inquiry in English, they will aswer you for sure.

If you speak German you can also read the text of the "Dentist Profession Order" (law) in the following links and scroll to find infos about requirements etc.:

Reply:its gone be harder then u think u need ur passports, visa, green cards, birth citificat. itw gone be hard getting all those thing and u need these thing in germany 2.good luck my friend
Reply:Opening a practice isn't that simple. Most Germans have public health insurance, and to be allowed to treat them you have to become accredited by the Deutsche Zahnärztekammer. They'll assign an area/village to you where the previous dentist stopped practicing. There's usually a lot of red tape involved.

Outside of that, getting a working permit visa will depend on your country of origin.

Family ties help, but it all depends in the degree of relationship and, again, what country you're from.

You'll have to prove that you speak German language, too.

In any case, I'd recommend that you contact the German Embassy in your country, because they'll handle most of the application for immigration anyway and have the specifics for your country.

You can find a list of all embassies here:

http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/de/...
Reply:I know first hand that you need a work permit in order to work there... and in order to get that you have to be married to a German if you are not married to a German then i really don't know how that goes... i would suggest you call a German Consulat here in the United States... there's one in every Major city. You do need a valid passport and if you plan on being there longer then 3 month you need a visa... Good Luck Germany is beautiful... You will love it!!

I`m German myself but married an American and now live in the USA...

Has the best answer so far, I can not even improve upon it. She sounds like she covered all the bases.

As someone who has moved to Germany it is not easy unless you poses a skill they need, or have a big company like Mercedes willing to sponsor you and take you through the paper work.

Under the German Social medicine Doctors and Dentist are a dime a dozens, many have trouble making ends meet and are moving to other countries because of the poor salary they receive here. The German education system is mostly free so there is not a shortage of Doctors and Dentists, health care professionals in Germany in fact they have to many.

Good Luck
Reply:First you are an AUSLANDER and always will be you will only have turks for patients, I thought germany was really kewl until i went there to live. What career path do I take if In want to become a dentist?

I am a junior in High school. What should i major in if I want to become a dentist? Also, I am from a low income family and live in New York City. I was wondering if I should just go to the CUNY(City University of New York) for my undergraduate and save up the money for a good graduate school.

What career path do I take if In want to become a dentist?
My good friend went to theAir Force and got his education.
Reply:If you want to become a dentist, you are going to need to have an undergraduate major in the biological sciences...biochem is typically a pretty good one. Dental school will be pretty spendy, but don't let that dictate where you go to undergrad. Choose a school that you think you can succeed at, as you are going to need to do well in undergrad to get accepted to dental school. Good luck!!
Reply:You need to get a BA or BS. It doesnt matter what.

But you need to know/complete the pre-reqs.

Bio 1/2, Gen Chem 1/2, Orgo Chem1/2 and Physics.

Then you take the DAT.
Reply:There aren't any specific majors required to go to dental school but most people typically have degrees in the sciences. Some schools may have a preprofessional program that will help you prepare for entry to dental school. To get an idea of what classes you may need, check out the link below.

I asked a girl for marriage.she likes me so much too but she rejected it how can i convince her for marriage?

Hi im 22 and its about 2 years that ive fallen in love with my classmate and last year a asked her for marriage but she didnt accept it and her reason was that "we arent made for eachother, our families are defferent".my parents are dentists and her father is millioner because of his farming lands and her mother is teacher of literature.when i asked her for marriage last year and she disaccepted it we dident break off our relation.i always helped her in lessons, talking with each others and laghing and ...And my quastion is should i ask her for marriage after one year again or i should be more patient and wait for 2 or more years to ask her again?you know how realy i want her.

I asked a girl for marriage.she likes me so much too but she rejected it how can i convince her for marriage?
Oh the only way to marry her is to keep asking her... what are you waiting for? My husband asked me to marry him, bought me a diamond ring before he even kissed me. He knew when he was fourteen he wanted to marry me and when he bumped into me a few years later, he went home and told his friends that he just met his wife. So after a year of correspondence and a year of sending me flowers every day, he bought me a diamond and I said I would tell him on Christmas Day if I would accept or not and incidentally, this was also, his Birthday, lol. So I told him no. Well, the guy just didn't back down and years later we're still married and he says it was all because he was Persistent. My parents didn't like him either initially, they thought he just wanted our money, but you need to overlook these things and just be Persistent.
Reply:Thank you Anastasia Slade Report It

Reply:First mistake - fine. Second SAME MISTAKE - that's stupid.
Reply:dont convince her but if u really love her and want her as your wife so u just have to avoid her,and tease her and try to get in touch with her freind,if she also have some feelings for she will get jelous.
Reply:I know you really want her, but I do not think she really wants you.

Her family has money, and she is probably concerned that most guys want to marry her for her money, (her families money).

I would give it time, if she only wants you as friends then so be it, but do not pursue this.

Just be her friend, and try to open your eyes and keeping your options open for others to date.

If you spend your whole life pursuing something that might not happen, then you are missing other possible relationships.
Reply:You don't just ask a girl for marriage. She can't just like you. You obviously have no idea what marriage even is and you're also very immature if you can just ask a classmate that likes you to marry you.

Marriage is when two people fall in love. They should be together for at least 3-5 years. They should know each other inside and out, mentally, emotionally and physically and taking care of each other with love, respect, trust %26amp; communication. Ages late 20's and early 30's when they should even consider making a commitment till death do them part.

You are not in love. You think it's love, but she's just a girl that you love to be with. You have alot of growing up to do. The girl is very smart.
Reply:be creative sweep her off her feet...
Reply:I think you are being used in a bad way. I do not know why women do this. They know the guy likes them and keep leading them on, if she does not want to be married to you why is she still hanging with you. What of your self esteem?, this is a bad way to go into a marriage. There will always be issues about it, and what ? is her family better because they have money?. get off it!, I would start by keeping my distance from her, if she misses you, she will call, or speak to you, when she does, you will find out what is it she misses, you or whatever help you give her.
Reply:Well it werid she said NO any way if you realllllly love her discuse it and if she says she will be ready in the furture then you can.But please don't just assume.
Reply:She rejected you, end of story. You can't make someone love you. If they need convincing, it is doomed. It's time to move on and find someone that will love you.

Has anyone had a rootcanal done and no pain med. afterward?

I had a root canal Wed. and afterward they didn't prescribe me any pain med. and I always usually get it. this place said we dont do that. I was like hmm ok. and they said ibuprofen would help and it doesnt they specifically said do not call us bc we wont prescribe it. I asked my doctor to then, my family physician and she said the dentist has to. Anyways also, they said they thought I might've had an infection and said they'd preform anyway, can they do that? Usually I thought they give an antibiotic before and schedule again?? Please tell me if they were allowed anything they did. and where I can turn for pain med.? Besides another dentist, we can only go to that one.

Has anyone had a rootcanal done and no pain med. afterward?
Most of the other answers are correct. The point in doing a root canal on a patient is to kill the nerve of the tooth that is causing pain. So, after the root canal (and deadened nerve), there is no pain and no need for pain medication.
Reply:I have. Take the ibuprofen.
Reply:This happened to me when I went to bootcamp in the Navy, and I had a bump about the size of a pea on the tooth where they did the canal on. This hurt like hell, but they gave me a couple of ibuprofen and told me to quit whining.
Reply:I've had several root canals done, and never needed anything stronger than ibuprofen.

My face hurt like crap BEFORE the root canal, but only a little bit afterward.

Take 800 mg of ibuprofen 3 times a day.
Reply:I had a root canal done when I was 16 and they did not give me any pain meds when they were done but my tooth did not hurt when the numbing was gone. The reason that a dentist gives you antibiotics before they do the root canal is to yes clear up the infection but the infection can also cause you to not be able to get numb so sometimes they would not even be able to do the root canal. If you were really swollen then they would put you on the antibiotics first. Since they opened the tooth up and removed the nerve of the tooth the infection had a way to drain so the antibiotics may not be needed. They would have also put some medicine inside the canal to help with any infection that may still be there. Doing the root canal today instead of putting you on antibiotics first is still normal. They did not do anything wrong.
Reply:I've had several root canals and only ibuprophen afterward. The after-root canal pain is almost non-existent, and the teeth actually feel better if they were hurting before the procedure. The dentist might give you an antibiotic if infection is present, but not always, If the root canal will remove the infected area %26amp; it's not bad, they might go ahead %26amp; do it.

I'm wondering: why can you only go to "that one dentist?" If the root canal was done by a specialist, go to your regular dentist. A patient always has the right to seek another opinion , regardless of who performed the procedure. Keep looking until you feel you're being treated properly. Good luck!
Reply:I have never had pain following a root canal.
Reply:yes. I had a root canal and then went straight back to work. I took a tylenol over-the-counter. It really wasn't that bad. My gums were tender, but that was it.

Becoming a dentist?

I want to ask is it hard to become dentist? I am considering going to Boston University School of Dental medicine. So I want to ask what classes should I expect and if it is hard. I like medicine somewhat and also I think I can make a good money with it. My plan is to finish that school get a job somewhere as being a dentist have it for about a year or two, and then move privately and open and have a two or more dentist places. I think I would pratice cosmetic and family dentistry. Anyway this isnt for sure as I am just thinking about. At first I want to study business, but now I don't know.

Becoming a dentist?
Well, if you study and know everything you need to know about being a dentist, it's not that hard..

Medicine is harder.. Trust me.

Teeth Question?

I am 28 yrs of age, and have strong white teeth. I have drank coffee (not in excess) for over 10yrs on and off. I brush/floss regularly, bite my nails, and constantly monitor my teeth. I have never had any problems with my teeth, with the exception of being a 5 yr old (decayed tooth that came out and regenerated healthy).

I have never been to the dentist..............Of corse I do overstand that I could pay for this. I have always wondered, even as a kid why All of my freinds or family members that went to the dentist ....all ended having to go back regularly, and have constant problems. I'm not pointing a conspiracy finger at dentist, but in my case.......what would you do?

If it aint broke, dont fix it maybe?....I dunno

Teeth Question?
It is probably worth going for a check up now and then, incase there is a small amount of decay or anything. It's better to know before it gets really bad. Also, you can't really look at you own teeth completely yourself so you could just get a dentist to have a quick check - it wouldn't hurt.
Reply:My dentist said that many times, genetics play a role. Some people never have problems, some have nothing but problems. That said, you're due for a check up and a professional cleaning with x-rays. If you have very small cavities, it's better to find them now, rather than when the entire tooth suffers decay.
Reply:When it comes to teeth, there are three factors:

Hygiene

Enamal Strength

Saliva tendencies

As you said, your hygiene is excellent, you brush and floss, the fact that you haven't had a cavity indicates your enamal is strong enough to resist decay. Finally, recent studies indicate that saliva plays a large role in stopping bacteria from setting up a stronghold on your teeth, and as you have not had a cavity, ever, your saliva is pretty strong probably.

So in summary, feel lucky, you're naturally equipped with a good set of teeth. You really don't need to see the dentist as long as you're not in pain and you take good care of your teeth.
Reply:The most obvious point is that just because you don't know something is wrong, doesn't mean it isn't.

Cavities left unaddressed can lead to root canals or tooth loss if not caught in time. The reality is, some people just have genetically stronger teeth and gums than others, regardless of the amount of care you give.

There are plenty of tooth decay/gingervitis/gum recession issues that are hard to rectify if not caught early.

I'd suggest biting the bullet and going just to make sure your teeth are doing as well as you'd like to think they are. It would be a shame if you found out too late that they weren't.
Reply:HELLO,

YOU INDEED HAVE A VERY VALID POINT. I TAILOR MY PATIENTS' VISITS ACCORDING TO HOW WELL THEY CARE FOR THEIR TEETH.

SOME MAY NEED A VISIT EVERY 6 MONTHS BECAUSE THEY ARE PRONE TO CAVITIES. OTHERS, DO WELL AND CAN DO ONCE PER YEAR.

THERE IS NO HIDDEN CONSPIRACY IN DENTISTRY, BUT IT JUST HAPPENS THAT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE NEED A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING ON A REGULAR

BASIS. A VISIT AT LEAST ONCE PER YEAR IS WORTHWHILE.
Reply:You're right.. don't fix it ain't broke. You are one of the luckiest person, who does not have problem. Going to the dentist every 6 months is maintenance. They check for gum , cavities, cancer and so forth. You might not have cavities, but you might have peridontal disease. Periodontal disease is uncurable. There are some some disease you might not be aware of. If you don't go to Dentist, it might get worst .

Why are my teeth falling to pieces and my dentist failling me?

Im one of the few lucky people to have a dentist but he's rubbish. He was a family friend but is too laid back. I brush all the time and cut out sugar as much as possible but my teeth are getting blacker. inbetween my teeth are crumbling away and my gums are constantly bleeding. I take 12 painkillers at least a day and my dentist cant get me in till June. Im 21 and am scared I'll get dentures. I was due to get veneers last year but my teeth were too damaged. I cant eat hot or cold food and chewing is a task. I have been going to the dentist every week for almost 2 years and now hes full I have been waiting 3 months. What can I do?

Why are my teeth falling to pieces and my dentist failling me?
First, I am so sorry hun. That is a horrible situation. Make sure you are using sensitive toothpaste to help until you can get into any dentist. I would recommend going online to find others in your area if you are on a Dental plan as well.

There are conditions that are genetic that cause problems with teeth as well as bone density. Also many people have thinner enamel which is what helps to protect the teeth, without that extra bit, your teeth are more susceptable to caries, or decay.

If I were you I would get a prescription for antibiotics straight away. That type of wear and damage is dangerous and can lead to infection in the bone and cause even more severe pain. Have the teeth had root canals on them? If not, you may want to consider some of them, and have crowns done. It is expensive but worth the effort.

Are you in the US? If so you can go to the American Dental associations website to get more info on Prosthodontists in your area and new dentists. While crowns are being made you are given temporaries to wear for a while.

Implants are another option, but it truly depends on the state of the jaw bone as to whether or not that is feasible. This needs to be consulted by an Implant surgeon or Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon. If the bone doesn't support it, they will be a huge waste of money and fail.

First and FOREMOST, Get a new Dentist. I understand loyalties, but this is YOUR mouth and this is something you will have to live with. You cannot always live on anothers schedule. Get a consult with a Prosthodontist an Implant surgeon and/or Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon. They will give you the best options available to you, since I cannot see your mouth nor have xrays, These are just general ideas. I hope everything works out for you. Best of luck hun.
Reply:phone nhs direct they will give you an emergency dentist or try phoning round other dentists on the of chance they get a cancel but it will beprivate and will cost
Reply:I'm with her =ditch this dentist for someone who will care
Reply:Wow hunny sounds like you have a dentist from hell, you can sue him for starters as he has had 2 years to save your teeth. And as for your teeth being too damaged to have veneers thats rubbish. You sure he dont have a vendetter against you, if your teeth were that damaged 2 year's ago then you wouldnt have them now. Veneer's can be put on extremely bad teeth, hence why people have them.

You are also clearly suffering from gum disease, I really am shocked your dentist hasnt got rid of it yet. Also I am very supprised the dentists books are all booked if he/she is really that bad. There is always a solutions even if its an extraction, you shouldnt be sent home with no more appoints due if still in pain.

Definately look for a new dentists now.

Dentists only advice nowdays is make sure you brush an floss daily and use mouth wash, I do an its never helped me with the problem I have now.

I have been having some problems with my teeth recently and it started in February this year when I had to have a filling, then 1 month later exactly I need another filling, then 1 month exactly after that I need my front teeth coated as they were chipping. I have now become obsessed with my teeth and I am so scared I am going to lose them. It's horrible cause my teeth appear really nice and healthy but infact there weak and causing me so many sleepless nights. I've done none stop research on teeth thats why I no your dentist is chatting rubbish to you.

Goodluck hun.
Reply:Im sorry about your teeth but are you also flossing and using a mouth wash?
Reply:Get your self another dentist as soon as possible! Also I dunno if the doctor would be able to help. Could it be something in your diet that your not eating, gum infection, maybe gum disease? I dunno if this would help with your bleeding gums, but you could try washing your mouth out with an antibacterial mouth wash like Listerine. Swill your mouth with a mouth wash for 15 -30 seconds after brushing. Also floss between your teeth. Are you also getting plenty of calcium?
Reply:watch what painkillers you take paracetamol can be very dangerous to overdose on them cos they can leave you in a vegitive state on any more than eight a day . too laid back means he is lazy, you should try to get another dentist or move to newcastle where there is a dental hospital and all treatment is free
Reply:Call other places, and make an emergency appointment.
Reply:It definately sounds like yes you do have bad teeth, im sorry to be so blunt. But as for your dentist, he should of told you to floss. Especially if you say they are crumbling between the gums. And yeah if a patient has poor oral hygiene (which may not be totally your fault if you have not received any oral health advice) they wont do the work. Depending how bad the situation is and you stepped up on the hygiene you could slow down the process. It cant be reversed however. Just because someone brushes twice a day doesn't necessarily mean they are doing it properly. Spend at least a minute and a half to 2 mins brushes, floss and use a fluoride mouthwash. If that helps then you may get the work you need. However, can I just point out that venners may look good, but they can limit what you eat. Like you would never be able to bite into a roll or apple for example because of the risk of damaging it.

But good luck, sorry if it seems like I went on a bit. I'm a dental nurse training to be a hygienist and oral health advisor.

What is the average beginning wage for a dental receptionist?

also, is it a good idea to work for the dentist that I and my family go to?

What is the average beginning wage for a dental receptionist?
In Austin, TX the average starting pay for a medical receptionist is $10-$12/hr. But recently Ive seen as low as 9.00/hr. if I were you, I wouldnt accept any less than $11 hr.
Reply:You definitely don't want to take less, than $11.00 an hr., where I live in North Carolina they would pay only $9.00 and that would be with experience, and I would not work for my own dentist/dr's...
Reply:In the St. Louis area, the average beginning wage for a dental office receptionist is about $12 per hour or less. However, some areas are offering $14-16 per hour with benefits added.

Who should be responsible for understanding a patients dental benefits? The patient or the dentist office?

Having been a dental assistant for 10 yrs., I have always been told that it is the patients responsibility to know their own benefits. However I see patients daily who don't understand a thing about their dental insurance, especially when it comes to going out of network. It seems like when you try to explain it to them, they get mad at the dental office instead of their insurance company, as if they think we are making it all up. They have usually heard things about insurance from friends, family or coworkers and take that as the gospal. Who should be responsible for knowing details of the insurance plans? Taking into consideration that most dentists accept numerous insurance plans, and each plan has hundreds of individual policies, each having different rules and regulations.

Who should be responsible for understanding a patients dental benefits? The patient or the dentist office?
It's a tough question and I don't think there's one, deffinitive answer.

Having worked as long as you have in the dental field, I have aquired a huge amount of information about insurance plans. I've spent countless hours attending seminars, getting phone support, and reading explanation of benefits (EOB's). There are things I can help patients understand about their insurance benefits and I do this as part of my job.

On the other hand, there are still clauses and exceptions that surprise me all the time. Plans change, people max their coverage at other offices, employers don't pay premiums, employees don't work enough hours to qualify, waiting periods come and go.... There's just NO WAY I can be an expert on each of the thousands of plans out there.

So, most reasonable people would expect the person who is BUYING the plan to know something about what they purchase. (Employees "buy" the plan by trading their work hours for the benefit the employers offer.) Sadly, this is often not true. Once they hear "dental insurance", all they get is "two free cleanings a year" and that's about it.

One of my pet peeves is people not taking responsibility for what is their own - and one of those things is knowing their coverage. If you are intelligent enough to work, you should be able to find out what your plan does - and more importantly, does not - cover. If you don't understand the wording, call someone and ASK a few questions until you do understand it.

You bought it, you're paying for it in labor, you should know what it does.

People get mad at the dental office over insurance because we have conditioned people to think we're experts in their insurance. For decades, we have accepted assignment of benefits, letting people walk out the door without paying a dime for their services. "Just bill my insurance and I'll pay if there's anything left." We have given them the impression that our "estimate" is exact and if there's any mistakes, it must be the fault of the dental office.

They also get mad at us because we're easier to reach than a faceless insurance company. We make handy targets.

I'm glad to help our patients understand what "coordination of benefits" means, or "missing tooth clause." But like you, I'm disappointed that more people won't take responsibility for becoming informed on what is - after all - a contract between themselves, their employer, and the insurance company.
Reply:It is the patient's responsibility to understand their benefits. All too often, people don't take the initiative to understand what they've bought or is provided to them through their place of employment. Maybe ignorance is bliss, but it doesn't help pay the bills and it certainly may leave money on the table.
Reply:I believe the patient should be responsible. With that being said, when the insurance companies mail out the cards and benefits booklets they should include in LARGE TYPE that the patient is responsible for understanding the benefits. Something to that extent actually does appear in small type--usually in the area that everyone skips. How do I know this? I am not only a medical professional, but also a consumer of health/dental insurance, and I am one of the very few that takes the time to read the fine print.
Reply:I understand exactly what your saying, I work in a Physicians office and it is the same thing, Patients think that there is only 1 insurance out there and we are supposed to know exactly what their personal deductible is, what their family deductible is, what their copay is what there script coverage is etc... They ask us if a certain procedure is covered and when we give them the codes to call their insurance company to find out...they get mad at us, like it's our responsibility to find out for them. It is the PATIENT'S responsibility to know what their individual coverage is, we help as much as we can but we don't know your coverage until we bill it.
Reply:I think it is both parties responsibilities. However, if I had to choose one I would say the dentist office but only because they're the ones at work. Therefore, the workers have an obligation to know what's going on. The patients are just there to get the service they signed up for and pay for it. Nonetheless, there is nothing worse than someone (a patient) getting an attitude because they're ignorant to what's going on. (That's more of a character issue than anything else.)

Should I be a dentist or a psychiatrist?

well...i know both are in medical field. I'm already taking honors math and AP science class. but im still not sure which one I should really persue. Can someone please list me pros and cons? and i money and time with family wise? thanks you.

if you are a dentist or psychiatrist, it would be nice to giev some pointer and how it is like.

much thanks =]

Should I be a dentist or a psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist makes more money, but you have to go through med school. Dental school (assuming you don't go for a specialized field) only takes 4 years (after your BS/BA).
Reply:I'd rather be a psychiatrist. Spending my days with my hands in someone else's mouth is not my idea of a rewarding career choice.
Reply:dentist

(may be less stressful)
Reply:I would choose psych. over dental. The thought of having my hands in someones mouth all day just eeeks me out. I like to write, so I think treating psychiatric patients would be a great source for ideas.

Why does it seem like there are so many people just waiting to blame their dentist?

Ok, I know that sometimes the dentist does do poor work and it is his fault, ( I have worked for one of those). But so often I hear patients blaming dentists for problems that in reality they caused themselves. I have seen people come into the office with 6 or 7 cavities, many very deep. We drill out the decay as consevatively as possible and place a filling. We warn the patient that there is a chance of a rootcanal in the future, But in a week or 2 the patient comes back claiming that we did something to their tooth. This same type of blame happens with dentures, extractions, crowns, and rootcanals. Instead of gathering information about the specific treatment they recieved, alot of patients listen to family and friends and start yelling "malpractice, Im going to sue". Why are there so many patients that think that dentists are doing something wrong, instead of realizing that dentistry is not an exact science, and things do go wrong?

Why does it seem like there are so many people just waiting to blame their dentist?
This, for the person above who thought this was a crazy question, is what Huskymom was talking about:

"They are so into profit sharing as I like to call it now days. Its ridiculus (sic) how the dentist can charge so much and then send you to a specialist even for the simplest extractions that they go to dental school to learn. It's no wonder so many people are walking around with bad teeth while dentists and doctors live in their big houses and weekend on their yachts. It should be an exact science at the prices they charge."

I'm sorry to say this, but this comment reeks of ignorance. Dentists do not charge all that much for the service they are providing and for the amount of education they must obtain to be licensed.

People "walk around with bad teeth" because they put off seeing the dentist until they are in pain and desperate. By the time they come to the dentist, it is often too late to do anything but pull teeth. Some will spend money on everything else under the sun - cigarettes, beer, video games, off-road-vehicles, etc, but scream bloody murder if a dentist asks for payment to take care of their self-inflicted decay.

If the person I quoted wants to live in a big house, perhaps they should invest 8 years and many thousands of dollars in obtaining an advanced degree, spend a small fortune on equipment and hiring a staff, eat Top Ramen for years, and make the sacrafices dentists do in order to set up a practice.

You do all that, and I'll be happy for you to live well. You deserve it.

This is not a silly question. It's stated on here over and over again, and it is offensive to people who work hard to provide a needed service.

I bet nobody here works for free. When payday comes, how many of you say, "No thanks, I'm just doing this for the good of mankind. You keep the money."

Yeah, right.
Reply:I blame him,,just look!!!!!!!!
Reply:I have to admit that I am forty-eight years old and in my entire life I have NEVER, EVER, NOT EVEN ONCE, ever heard a person blame their dentist for ANYTHING. This may be one of the strangest questions I have ever read on this site.
Reply:Our culture teaches us to blame anyone and everyone first before ever taking the blame ourselves.
Reply:People would rather blame someone else then think that they did something wrong, especially something that caused harm to themselves.
Reply:I have worked for 4 different dentist and I think in 3 of the instances it was a failure of communciation because the dentist was already thinking of his next patient and how much money would be involved
Reply:Dentists are stupid med school dropouts and they turn evil

Maybe you were one of the lucky ones and worked for a nice guy.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have been injured by a dentist in ways that this forum isn't the place to express. It has severely altered the course of my life.

And in general, you might want to look at my response to Tomh311's question.

I didn't even mention the chronic damage part there.
Reply:they has a right to blame the dentist especially when the dentist is stupid who does not know what his doing. the teeth is the most sensitve part of the body any mistake made by the dentist its the patience who will suffer okay. just imagine the poor patience will undergo a lot of suffering in his life just cause the dentist commit a mistake like putting a false teeth or braces on the mouth etc. see

Wouldn't it be wonderful if medical and dental educations were free! Check this out. This is the school I graduated from. Tuition was a fraction of this 30-some years ago, but in relative terms, it was not too far off.

The four year total is approximately $300,000. This is for THIS YEAR, as I know that it will increase about 5% or so every year, adding about $20,000 to the total.

Im looking for a dentist that works with low income families that works on a sliding scale with payments.?

Depending on where you live...

There are community clinics that you can go to. You can call Social Services to find one in your area. Be prepared, there is usually a 6 month waiting list to get an appointment.

Need help with deciding my future?

I am a junior, and am having trouble deciding between whether I should become an engineer or dentist. I am from a lower class family, and with aid and scholarships, get myself throught college. However, if I chose to become a dentist, I would need graduate school. Although, dentists do make more money and might pay off in the long run. However, it would be difficult to go through 8 years of school.

Need help with deciding my future?
Well, as my friend was told from a friend "Would you rather be creating things, or be digging inside someone's mouth for the next 20 years?"

It all depends on what you like to do. If you like math and science (notice I said like, not "good at"), go with engineering. With the technology that is constantly being improved and updated, engineers are up for high demand. You may get paid more as a dentist in the beginning, but engineering start off high and get higher. My dad's an engineer, and his salary has continued to increase and increase.

It would be difficult to go through 8 years of school, but if you're up for the challenge, go for it. It's really about following your passion...your heart will lead you to where you need to be.

And it's good that you're thinking about this as a Junior...many many many of my fellow Senior friends don't know what they want to do with their life. It's very sad. Take the summer before your Senior year to really explore your options and colleges. That helped me out tremendously to narrow down my major to chemical engineering.

Good luck!
Reply:You could become a dental hygienist and then go on to be a dentist with a job in a related Field. then if you decide that you don't like the dental Field you can go on to engineering with out wasting 8 years. talk to your guidance I'm going though the same thing with OT and Journalism.
Reply:well if u come from a lower class family then u have 2 make sure u have enough money 4 all 8 years plus u have 2 decide which one u wnt 2 be more it makes no sense 2 be something only 4 the money and not cuz u enjoy it
Reply:are you a junior in high school or a junior in college? i'm going to assume you're a junior in high school. in my freshman year of college, i changed my intended major more times than i can remember (fortunately my school doesn't make you declare until the middle of sophomore year). don't lock yourself into something now - you're not even in college yet.

trust me - do something that you're going to be happy doing for a long time. the extra income is not worth it if you don't truly want to be doing the work. if, in fact, dentistry is the right path for you, the eight years of school will be well worth it. plus, college is fun. when you're out you'll be wishing you were back. spend as much time there as you can.
Reply:Do what makes you happy regardless of the cost. In the end it will all be worth your decision. Stay true to yourself. If you like Math go for engineering, if you would rather work in an office and maybe own a dental practice then go for it.
Reply:Typically you would need graduate school for engineering too. Many people get decent jobs with a BS in some area of engineering, but with an MS you would probably start out at $20k-$30k more per year, depending on where you live. Considering that a master's program is only 2 years, many people jump at the chance to make the extra cash and go for it. I would suggest you not limit yourself to just a BS. Most master's programs have evening classes also, so you can work during the day to pay for school. good luck

I've never been to the dentist before. I'm 15 years old and I don't know what to expect....?

Growing up, my family could never afford to go to the dentist, but now I'm living with other family and I will be able to see the dentist soon. I don't know what to expect, or what to say when I tell him that I'd never gone before. I know I have a couple cavities but otherwise, I have a tiny bit of an over bite. My wisdom teeth are starting to grow in, and as much as I know I shpuld, I rarely floss, and I only brush my teeth about once a day. what can I expect? Also, How often should I go to the dentist for checkups, and does having cavities filled hurt at all? I've had bad experiences with doctors using injections to freeze me as I had a biopsy in my foot that I could definately feel as they did it.

I've never been to the dentist before. I'm 15 years old and I don't know what to expect....?
wow you pretty much answered what to tell him "I know I have a couple cavities but otherwise, I have a tiny bit of an over bite. My wisdom teeth are starting to grow in, and as much as I know I shpuld, I rarely floss, and I only brush my teeth about once a day."

im 15 and i went to the dentist this year after not going since i was about 6. it acctually wasn't that bad the dentist will check if you have any cavities and if you do you'll have to get them filled but is really is painless cuz they inject whatever it is into you gums to numb your mouth. hope all goes well
Reply:You should definately explain to your dentist what you've said here, and that you are nervous. Tell them that you don't know what to expect, and that you would like everything explained to you as you go. Try to brush at least twice a day, and floss every day. You should start going for check ups every six months.
Reply:Make sure your dentist knows that you've never been. That should help them actually. If you're curious about anything that they're going to do or have any questions or worries, then feel free to ask them.

I've been seeing a dentist my whole life but I bet the first thing they'll do is clean your teeth. Which is normally painless unless they hit one of your cavities but I'm sure they'll be careful around them.

Having cavities filled normally doesn't hurt unless they don't get you numbed up all the way.(On a side note, some dentists use the happy gas stuff to mellow you out rather then shots, but I've never had it.) I'm a pain to get all the way numb but if you feel any pain when they do it just make sure to let them know. And try your best to relax. You'd be surprised how much that helps.

I know the worst part of getting cavities filled for me is the shots cause they hurt for a few seconds going in and after the numbness wears off you'll be sore where the needle was put in. Your tooth actually shouldn't bother you much after. The numbness can be really annoying though. You can normally sleep it off and sometimes eating something helps get rid of it.

Wisdom teeth they'll probably talk to you about taking out.

As for how often you go in, I normally get cleanings(dental version of check ups) once or twice a year. If you have any problems though you just call and get an appointment.
Reply:its fun they poke around your mouth a bit.

some advice: close your eyes. you make it awkward by staring at them
Reply:wow. you should explain to the dentist your situation. your dentist will probably do a deep cleaning on your teeth since you've neve been to the dentist before. then you will probably have to go back several times because of the cavities to fill them and for a regular cleaning. also, if your wisdom teeth are hurting you or if you want them out, then you'll have to tell your dentist as well and probably refer you to an oral surgeon.
Reply:Its good you visit your dentist regularly especially when you have tooth problem. Visit http://mytooth.fateback.com for details
Reply:you should go to the dentist every 6 months, for regular check ups

having some fillings might hurt a little bit....but he will inject something in to your gum first.....

as you have an over bite - the dentist will refer you to the orthodontist.

also if you have any questions about teeth - ask her/him

How to find a NHS dentist who is taking on NHS Fee paying patients?

Yesterday I paid £95 for a tooth extraction, the tooth itself cost £60 to take out then all the rest of the money was spent on xrays ect. I was taken off the NHS list as I missed 1 appointment as I was in hospital at the time and too sick to cancel the appointment so hence have been paying for treatment for the past couple of years. I claim working family tax credit but not not child credit as I earn too much so they say so I dont even have an exemption certificate. I am in a health plan so I will get a percentage back of what I paid but having looked on the NHS site all local dentists and even further away dentists are not taking on fee paying patients for the NHS. Is there anyother way I can search for someone to take me and my daughter on without paying an arm and a leg everytime?

How to find a NHS dentist who is taking on NHS Fee paying patients?
Phone your local PALS service. PALS stands for Patient Advice and Liason Service. They have lists of dentists who are taking on NHS patients and the lists get updated regularly. It should be a freephone number too. I worked for my local PALS office, the vast majority of their calls were people in your situation - they've been kicked off a list for missing an appt, so they'll understand and won't judge you.

Good luck!
Reply:Needle in a haystack. I've just moved and the only one I could find has a 6 month waiting list. In the meantimes I'm paying through the nose for Sweeny Todd's skiing trips.
Reply:its a disgrace isn't it? like many I resort to going abroad to fix my teeth, it doesn't save much in the end but at least you get a nice holiday to go with it
Reply:if you get any benefit child or working tax credit you do not pay for dentist or prescriptions - you dont say what area you are in but I had no problem finding a NHS dentist in Scotland and when i had a tooth extraction and was painful for 1 month afterwards i phone another dentist and got an appointment for 3 weeks later.
Reply:Very few dentists take new NHS patients any more, I'm afraid - all I can say is that £95 for a tooth extraction is NOT an arm and a leg - it costs £45 to have it done under the NHS - and you could be waiting up to two months for an appointment. So after whatever percentage you get refunded (50%?) the difference would be around 25 quid - then take off cost of extra travel if you did find a dentists accepting NHS patients (say) a further 20 miles away and it;s hardly worth fussing over....
Reply:No you might find this difficult. Virtually no dentists now take on new NHS patients. As patients die or leave a dental practice they are not replaced with other NHS patients. In a few years all dental treatment will be private and will not be available on the NHS. This is because the government will not pay the going rates for dental treatment to dentists who feel they are subsidising the NHS.Unless the NHS is prepared to pay a lot more for dental treatment the situation will get worse.
Reply:You should search the NHS site for dentists in adjacent areas- you may need to travel some distance.

NHS dentists have had to be strict on failed appointments as they prevent targets being hit- NHS dentists can lose their jobs if they don't hit targets.

If given choice between working/living in Seattle or Atlanta, what would you recommend? And, why?

I am 32, single, Asian male. I've been to both places and loved them all! Personally, I love the water and the rain. (Atlanta only has a river...) But I get a "gut feeling" that Atlanta has more economic growth and younger families. I am a dentist btw.

Any suggestions/comments would be welcomed!

If given choice between working/living in Seattle or Atlanta, what would you recommend? And, why?
I haven't lived in (or even been to) Seattle, but I can give opinions on Atlanta. We lived in Atlanta for 2 years. We have lived all over the eastern coast and midwest.

Atlanta is the cheapest place we have lived overall. Real estate is low, groceries are low, taxes are low, gasoline is low. People are friendly, pace of living is slower than other places. Lots of cultural opportunities.

The biggest negative I would mention is the traffic. Terrible. If you choose Atlanta, live near where you work.

Also, a good melting pot, although there is still racial bias, which is probably everywhere in the USA.

What are the retirement options for a plastic surgeon or dentist?

And what benefits do dentists have such as paid vacation/jolidays/sick leave/personnal leave/proffesional leave family leave

And what are the business expenses for a plastic surgeon or dentist

What are the retirement options for a plastic surgeon or dentist?
i always assumed dentists and plastic surgons were freelance and just regulated by the bord of health....and moniterd for safe practices...if this was the case it would all be up to how successfull your practice was thus how much you could save in a pension, and how much time you could afford to take off....
Reply:Benefits/retirement options would depend if you were in private practice or worked for another doctor.

Expenses would include rent, purchase/rental of equipment, medical supplies, office supplies, malpractice insurance, state/federal fees for various licenses, employee salaries and the federal taxes for social security... the list goes on and on.

Contact the Australian consulate.

They will give you all of the information you need. If your skill, or anyones for that matter, is needed, they will help you relocate, get started and walk you through the necessary steps for citizenship.

I was there a few years back and absolutely loved the place, the people, the food and the rest.

Do I have to go to the dentist?

Hey, I am 14 years old and bad teeth sorta runs in the family...

I am not afraid of the dentist but I have to go a lot more then most people for cavities. Getting back to the question though, my parents are forcing me to go next week and I am petrified because I always swallow constinently and when my mouth is open, that prevents me from swallowing. This makes me panic and I start to freak out and scream... I do not want to go and have tried all methods such as laughing gas to stop my panicing... Nothing has worked for me and was wondering if my parents can force me to go. Once again I am 14, so don't I have some sort of rights to whether I choose to go or not?

P.S. I don't want to be rude but I want to know if I can or can't be forced to go... I do not care if there are other methods to keep me calm or a lecture on what my teeth will turn out like when I'm older. THANKS!

Do I have to go to the dentist?
Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but yes- at 14 you can be forced to go. You have no real say in the matter, really. You are a minor, and have very few rights. In things relating to your health and health care- your parents pay the bills, and get to call the shots. And if you were mine, yeah- I'd force you too. I'd hog tie you if necessary, knock you out and get it done if you wouldn't cooperate otherwise.
Reply:It's simple - just tell the dentist that you feel like you need to swallow a lot, and ask him if it's OK if he'll stop for a second when you raise your hand. The dentist wants you to be comfortable - my guess is that he won't mind a bit if you do this.
Reply:Don't feel bad I had a horrible experience as a child and refused to go to the dentist. The trick that worked for me is to listen to music(CD player, ipod) and focus on breathing. It was tough at first but soon I got the hang of it. Having your teeth cleaned is really important not only does it effect the way your teeth look and feel but if there is a cavity it might get so bad that will have to have the whole tooth removed which will only make you situation worse. Also having clean teeth helps to keep your heart healthy and stops plaque and other things from getting in there. I hope this helps and good luck!!
Reply:WELL, PLEASE GO. DENTISTS HAVE SEEN AND HEARD IT ALL. THEY WILL MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT GOING THERE.
Reply:listen to Dr. Albert
Reply:Yes they can force you to go. You are still a child. Get your teeth taken care of your you will end up making them worse and having to eventually get them pulled and get dentures. So just try to relax. Dentist appoinments really are not that long. Maybe go for an early morning appointment so you don't have to think about it all day. You will be fine.

Considering becoming a dentist- have conflicting goals w/ being a mother.?

I am a single 26 yr old college student. I took a few years off of school for family obligations but have completed 2 years towards getting my bachelors degree.

I've been thinking about becoming a dentist. If I did, it would take me about 6 more years of school. I will be 32 when I graduate. I also want to be a wonderful mom. I want to be at home for the first few years of my 2-3 childrens lives before they go to school and then work while they are at school.

The other concern that I have is that I don't want to work my life away. Going thru med school will be a lot of work. A lot of dentists keep working a long time after the normal retirement age. I want to be a GREAT mother and enjoy my life. Money isn't really very important to me. I would like being a dentist because it is a honorable job, and because of the sense of accomplishment and respect that there is for becoming a doctor.

I'm trying to decide what to do. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you very much!

Considering becoming a dentist- have conflicting goals w/ being a mother.?
I think 32 is young! As I am 29 and will recieve my degree at about 32 as well.

If you became a dentist your kids would be very proud and it would encourage your kids to do the same. But, another great choice is a dental hygenist.

A hygenist makes thier own hours, great pay ($34 hour), and only two years of school. I spoke to a dentist that told me if she could do it all over again, she would become a hygenist because of the hours, pay, less student loans, and you don't have to carry insurance.

Good Luck! Stay in School!
Reply:Sometimes you have to make a type of compromise. Since you want to become a dentist, a Dr. really; I wouldn't think you would want to get behind in your practice if you ever stayed home with children. What about working part time while the children are young? Being a GREAT mom doesn't mean you have to be with them all the time. I think you have wonderful aspirations but I also don't think its necessary for either occupation to suffer.
Reply:I love this! You wrote:

"I would like being a dentist because it is a honorable job, and because of the sense of accomplishment and respect that there is for becoming a doctor."

There is your why!

Passionately stick to it because your children will model after you, which is to do what they feel is honorable, have a sense of accomplishment, and gain respect for becoming what they dream about becoming.

Go for it!
Reply:Desitions, desitions. If you get into a career (anything you decide) you will be taking time from your kids whenever they are born. It will be more difficult to enjoy your kids if you are a professional. Now you're worried about your career, once you got it, you'll be worried about stablishing yourself as a profesional, so you'll decide to wait a couple more years to be a mom. Then will be that you really like your independence and you'll take one more year off. At that stage you'll be in a trendmill and it will be very difficult to stop it. So, I bet you don't want go to your kids graduation from the hospice. Good luck, and whatever you decide, do not be afraid.

What is the worst lie that anyone has ever told you?

Getting paid $25.00 to show up at your children's parent-teacher conference, what is the USA coming to?

It just reinforces the impression that if everybody would just work hard enough and change their personal behavior we could solve poverty in this country, and that's not reflected in the facts," said Margy Waller, co-founder of Inclusion, a research and policy group in Washington.

Waller, who served as a domestic policy adviser in the Clinton administration, said it would be more effective to focus on labor issues, such as making sure wage laws are enforced and improving benefits for working people.

Among the possible rewards in New York's program are $25 for attending parent-teacher conferences, $25 per month for a child who maintains a 95 percent school attendance record, $400 for graduating high school, $100 for each family member who sees the dentist every six months and $150 a month for adults who work full time

Is it too late for me to straighten my bottom teeth?

I am 23 and while growing up my family couldn't afford a dentist for me so I basically didn't know the proper way to take care of my teeth! And now the effects are catching up to me! I had work done on some of my bottom back teeth and four of my bottom teeth are crooked...is there any other way to fix them? I heard it would be difficult to get braces if your teeth are not natural!

Is it too late for me to straighten my bottom teeth?
I am 31 and have braces...I do wish that I did this earlier (my teeth weren't bad) but I am happy I did it and will have nice straight teeth by next year some time.

The costs for braces are between 4-5K for upper and lower...my insurance paid for 2K of that and you can get a payment plan for the rest without any interest if you pay for a 1/4 of it up front.

I would recommend it...you will be happier when your teeth are nice and straight if that bothers you right now. I am not sure about your natural question...your teeth can be whatever they are and braces will do the trick.
Reply:It's never too late
Reply:Yeah! My best friend is 24 %26amp; she just got braces. It's well worth the money %26amp; the time.
Reply:see an orthodontist. my friend is 38 and just got brace - do what will make you feel good about yourself.

good luck
Reply:I wonder if that Invisalign dealy would work?
Reply:It's never too late. Go for it.
Reply:Many people get thier teeth straightened when they become adults, simply because of financial issues. If you have the money you should go for it.
Reply:I would suggest going to see an orthodontist, and see what he/she has to say, and what he/she can suggest. Good luck!
Reply:Its never to late for braces
Reply:You can see a dentist and they can recommend a treatment. It is never too late to get your teeth fixed. Make sure you have dental insurance/benefits, the work is expensive but worth it.
Reply:u can have braces anytime, it's just that the younger u are the better cuz as u grow up it becomes harder to move ur teeth..

and it's not difficult even if u have work done, when i had my braces they had to do some work on my teeth before putting them!!

so i say go for it, cuz a beautiful smile changes the whole world ;)

GOOD LUCK
Reply:when you visit the dentist again ask him what procedure he can do to help you with he bottom of your teeth but its never to late maybe some veneers
Reply:you can get a bottom retainer, it doesn't show on the outside of your teeth, but it corrects the problem, or you could get clear braces

i had the retainer and they arn't that big of a deal but they help so much

peace
Reply:It's never too late. Phyllis Diller was quite old when she got her teeth straightened
Reply:It is not to late.

Go for it.
Reply:it's never to late so go for yours you'll feel better about yourself, and with modern technology all the teeth probaly dont have to be natural for them to put braces on u, i'm 25 and after i'm done getting all my dental **** done, i'm going to look into braces the after marks will be all worth it.
Reply:It is not too late. You can look into traditional braces or Invisalign, but keep in mind Invisalign is more expensive. And even if you have fillings or crowns on those back teeth it will not affect the progress of getting your teeth straightened. Go to a general dentist and ask for a referral to the orthodontist. The dentist will have to make sure you have no existing cavities first - once they are taken care of then you get the green light for braces.

Good luck!

What is the worst lie that anyone has ever told you?

This can be a friend, sweetheart (married or not) family member, your doctor or dentist, a salesperson, a teacher (THAT would be sad!) or even a co-worker.

I had it done to me, and while I cannot go into the story, I would like to hear from you.

No areas where you live, and don't "ID" the person.

I just want to hear your story.

What is the worst lie that anyone has ever told you?
"when the next position for advancement opens up, it's yours."

I never got it (after two times) and I left the comapny

Reply:The worse and obvious lie someone has ever told me was that: He had to cancel our date because while he was at the beach the day before, he had to pee in the water and a little fish somehow jumped in his pee hole and he ended up in the hospital! Who in their right mind would believe that. I laughed and hung up the phone. He is still begging for another date 'till today. He was too chicken poop to tell me that he was nervous about our first date. Awful lie!
Reply:WELL she lied to all of us but mostly to my brother, she told him she was pregnant even faked it to "6" months using her mother (who was pg at the same time) ultrasound as "proof" well i went away for the summer and when i came back supposedly she had fallen off a ladder and had a miscarriage.... at 6 months?? nice try. I was the only one who knew she was lying cause she told me she was thinking about doing it about 2 days before she announced it. nice try hun... but every one believed her anyway!!! This was in highschool man that woman was psycho and she was supposedly one of my best friends!!!
Reply:That they have told me ?? This guy i was going out with and we were planning to get married all of a sudden shut me off ... he said he didnt have the time to be the boyfriend i deserved. He said that since his dad was in the hospital and his financial problems were growing... he didnt have much time for me. About 6 months later i got to speak to him ... he had left me for another girl... and she was pregnant and they were seeing each other with out me knowing.. he didnt even have the balls to break up with me face to face. So he says she was an old friend and they saw each other and fell in love.... i didnt ask to know more i was so heart broken. but i think everything happens for a reason, im happily married now but i wish i could've known other way.

After I got over my rage and fear about what we would do without any money and having to pay back all of those bounced checks, I told him I was going to the police and at least the bank camera's might have captured the person's face. Finally he admitted to spending all of the money - he had developed a drug habit. I tried to help get him into rehab but he kept relapsing. Then one day he stole money from our 8 year old daughter's piggy bank and she was devastated. I left him the next day.

Reply:"I care about you." They only said that to gain my confidence and proceeded to tell everyone all my thoughts and feelings--and found it to be hysterically funny to humiliate me like that. It was an elaborate ruse because this "friendship" went on for over a year. But in the end, I was just being played.

The Hills: Do you think Spencer really cares for Heidi or does he simply like leeching off her fame?

I read he doesnt come from a very rich family. His father is a dentist (can you believe it) and his mom is a homemaker.

If his father is responsible for his teeth, I say steer clear...

The Hills: Do you think Spencer really cares for Heidi or does he simply like leeching off her fame?
well...... i dont like spncer and i dont like heidi so i could care less!!!!

but lauren's my girl!!!!!!!

audrina's ok i guess
Reply:No doubt about that but I dont think that its coz he's not wealthy. Anyway, The Hills ROCKS!
Reply:I think he might have hooked up because of TV, but would he really want to get engaged if he didnt care for her at all and if he is not rich then how did he buy that darn ring? Does MTV pay for things like that?? I dont know. I just think he is kind of creepy!
Reply:he was on tv before the hills and has various companies..as much as people want to hate the kid he is smart and even worked with david foster..i think if anything the tables were turned heidi would have never had her cd coming out if not for spencer..lauren wouldnt have another season of the show if not for heidi..and fyi lauren is noo saint she talks so much how you never touch another persons man..need i remind you all brody was kristens man its like another stephen
Reply:i think he really does care about heidi...money dosnt always matter and they ARE engaged
Reply:i don't think he takes the relationship seriously..but then again- it's just TV and could all be set up for our viewing pleasure! seriously tho...he's a shady guy....
Reply:Spencer is disgusting! How about the closeups on the Hills- I think he needs ProActive! What Heidi sees in him I have no ides. Maybe she just wants a controlling person in her life to lead her cuz she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer!

How should i Proceed?

I have a small problem to make our love successful, we love each other very deeply. The problem is the religion and my financial status. As she is Born Christian and I am muslim, her mother absolutely wont accept other religions bridegrooms, and i am doing a low salary job present, but i m planning to complete my studies and trying to get a good job and i m capable of it. As her family is an well educated family, and she is a dentist, her mother will be the main obstacle in my life.

Does anyone have one good suggestion to make me convince her mother.

I will thankful to you,

Sam

How should i Proceed?
There are some parents who will never think anyone is good enough for their daughter to marry. I understand where you are coming from with wanting the mother to be more accepting but the truth of the matter is that it's really what you and you bride-to-be think that matters. If the two of you have found common ground and beleive you can build a lifetime of love and happiness despite whatever differences, challenges or obstacles exist, that's what really counts. Maybe in time, when her mother sees how happy you are together, how well you treat her daughter and how happy her daughter is with you, she'll come around. If not, don't sweat it, as long as you and your bride-to-be are happy and content. Sometimes there's just no pleasing some people, and that would be their problem, not yours.
Reply:It is not really necesary to convince someone to be agree with youre deal. Youre mate has to!
Reply:The truth is this that if you go in for the marriage it will not last. unless one is ready to abondon his or her religion which is not easy.
Reply:Its not her mother you are in love with if its meant to be then she will go ahead despite any objections. go for it and ignore those who stand in the way. easier to say than do i know. if she loves you there are no problems the wedding and marriage is about the two of you noone else. Good luck
Reply:So sad that religion has to play a part in others happiness. While it is important to each of us in our own way. I fear the Mother will not give in but please don't let this ruin your relationship. This will be a test of your love. Good luck and I am sorry.

What kind of car would you want your dentist to drive?

People always think that dentists (%26amp; medical doctors) rake in loads of money. Yet when they check to see what type of auto the dentist drives to work, they 'seem' to expect a luxury vehicle.

I was at the dental office last wk {don't ask why, lol}%26amp; one couple actually stopped chatting with the front desk to watch %26amp; see what the dentist drove away in. They saw that it was a late model Mazda %26amp; commented to the receptionist "Oh, he drives a family car." They were rather disappointed! Well then, what would you want your dentist to motor around in?

[Pls refrain from smarmy, derogatory answers, tks.]

What kind of car would you want your dentist to drive?
I think that they should drive whatever kind of car that they can afford, just like the rest of us.
Reply:Hey everyone!

Thanks for taking the time to answer this question. Special tks to iluvturtles, great answer. Report It

Reply:A mid-value car like a ford focus, honda accord, or ? I don't want my dentist getting rich off of me - it would make me feel like he cares more about money than my teeth. Although, I wouldn't stop seeing him just becaus he drove a Hummer or Lexus.

In fact, I haven't thought about it until now. lol. Good question.
Reply:I think a nicer car, like 50,000-60,000 range, the nicer the car, I figure the better he is. but not to nice of a car, don't want him to overcharge
Reply:volvo! i wouldnt want someone in a porsche 2 touch my teeth!
Reply:i don't care! as long as my mouth is healthy, they can go to work in a bycicle
Reply:A hybrid (or "green" car) of course! That is what everyone should drive.
Reply:a 2007 escalade
Reply:if he drives a nice car. may be he or she is a good dentist and can afford one...........

I would be Leary of a dentist that drove a rust heap.

Really 'i don't consider it any of my business........
Reply:Maybe he drives that small car and has 'the luxury car' in his garage at home.
Reply:Hmm...

maybe a porche or a cadillac.

How Long Can A Temporary Cap for your Tooth Last?

About 3 months ago I had to have a root canal. I had than done and my dentist put the temporary cap on but I have not been back to get the permanent one. I have had illness and family problems and once the Dentist had to cancel on me. How long will a temporary cap last. I am afraid I will lost it before I can get an appointment to have the real cap put on.

Will the temporary cause any damage to the root canal?

Would appreicate any information as to what I can expect. I hope to get back by the end of March.

How Long Can A Temporary Cap for your Tooth Last?
I think it should have been done as quickly as possible. There are many risk involved the longer you wait. I have never heard of one lasting for years but I would not try it. I think you should make an appointment and have it done as soon as possible.

I regret that you have had to wait because of illness but if you can work it in your schedule. It really is essential to let the dentist complete the work he has started. I have have heard that your gum can shrink and the original cap that the dentist had made while the temporary was on, may not fit as well.

Hope you get it done soon so you will not be faced with what another one of thees answers were about having to put in a false tooth.
Reply:anywhere between 3-5 years.. Dependin on your diet.
Reply:Go get your cap put on! Your tooth underneath can get infected. Food and stuff can get inside of it. I made the mistake of not getting my permanent cap (which is sealed)and now I need to get my tooth pulled and an implant put in-$$$$$$$$$$$$!
Reply:Hard to tell, if it was put it well and you don't do anything to pull it out it will stay there a long time. They say not to floss it because it might come off, but if you are planning on having it for a long time, just floss it but don't bring the floss up. Take it down till it hits the gum and pull it out from the side.
Reply:Im a dental nurse, hun you should get it replaced with a permanent fill asap. These other people on here are sayin 3-5years, well hun thats how long the fill lasts, but that doesnt mean it wont come out tomorrow. you just dont wanna risk reinfecting the RCT, or cracking the ALREADY fragile tooth. You need to get a permanent composite or amalgam fill, or even better a crown. dont risk it, iv seen some nasty cases that could have easily been avoided. :(

How many more years of college do you need after becoming a dental hygienist to become a dentist?

I am in a dental hygiene program because the closest dental school (for d.m.d.'s) is over 2 hours away and I have a family (small son). I really want to become an actual dentist in the future as we don't have very many dentists in my area, and as a person who has had teeth problems, I have very strong feelings to this profession. I was just unsure of how many more years after completion of the dental hygiene studies it would take to go onto be a dentist. I did not know whether any of the hours from this course would transfer to the dental program or whether you go from scratch with the whole 4years of dental school.

How many more years of college do you need after becoming a dental hygienist to become a dentist?
4 years depending on what credits they give you for your subjects already done as a hygienist.

Pain and sorethroat after getting a small filling?

The dentist said I had a small cavity that needed to be filled. Mind you I had no pain at all in this tooth. He filled it 8/16/07 and I have nothing but pain since. I called them on monday and they gave me a prescription for darvocet. They wouldnt even see me to see if it is infected. They told me all they could do is pull it or do a root canal. Now this is for a tooth that didnt even hurt and was suppose to be a small cavity. I am taking the medicine but now I have a toothache and a sore throat only on the side the tooth was worked on. My throat is not red. Should I make a family doctor visit? See another dentist? Or demand the dentist that worked on the tooth see me? What could they have done to that tooth to make it like this?

TIA

Pain and sorethroat after getting a small filling?
you must get a second opinion. a family doctor, or general doctor cant help you . go to another dentist.
Reply:What kinda filling you talking about...LMFAO!
