Clerical job through family friend?

Hi, a receptionist at a dentist's office (who I've known since I was 5, am currently 20, I know the dentist as well) is desperately seeking some basic office/clerical (filing, photocopying etc.) part-time help, and he said that if I'm interested, I should call sometime, though he is willing to wait for a few more weeks (since I have a full-time course load at university + part-time job, but I'll only have 1 course + part-time job starting in mid-April). He even said that I don't need to bring in a resume %26amp; they will try to be as flexible as possible for me. I still have to call to confirm if he/they are willing to hire me, but if they are and/or want to set up a meeting to discuss times, should I still bring in a resume? What should I put in the objective line, or should I just leave it out?

If this works out, and the times work out with my uni. summer courses + my current retail part time job, I don't need to tell my retail manager right? Any suggestions/answers appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like you've basically got the job already because you know someone who works there, so you probably don't really NEED a resume; however, bringing a resume to the interview would make you appear more professional (which isn't really important to the receptionist since they already know you, but it would be important to the dentist). Still, I think a resume would probably be overkill if they said you don't need one. If they just set up a meeting to discuss what hours you can work, you're basically already hired. They might just ask about where you worked before.

If you do decide to bring a resume, your objective can just be based on something you already know about nature of the job, like "Strengthening office services and patient relations" or some B.S. like that :-) I doubt they will pay much attention to that line.

If it works out, no, you aren't required to tell your current retail manager about your new job.
