I am a junior in High school. What should i major in if I want to become a dentist? Also, I am from a low income family and live in New York City. I was wondering if I should just go to the CUNY(City University of New York) for my undergraduate and save up the money for a good graduate school.
What career path do I take if In want to become a dentist?
My good friend went to theAir Force and got his education.
Reply:If you want to become a dentist, you are going to need to have an undergraduate major in the biological sciences...biochem is typically a pretty good one. Dental school will be pretty spendy, but don't let that dictate where you go to undergrad. Choose a school that you think you can succeed at, as you are going to need to do well in undergrad to get accepted to dental school. Good luck!!
Reply:You need to get a BA or BS. It doesnt matter what.
But you need to know/complete the pre-reqs.
Bio 1/2, Gen Chem 1/2, Orgo Chem1/2 and Physics.
Then you take the DAT.
Reply:There aren't any specific majors required to go to dental school but most people typically have degrees in the sciences. Some schools may have a preprofessional program that will help you prepare for entry to dental school. To get an idea of what classes you may need, check out the link below.
