Are we being taken by a dentist?

we have a 7 year old child who's adult front bottom teeth are crammed together. since we do not have adequate dental insurance we must go to the healthy families listed practitioners. the dentist said that a lower back baby tooth had a cavity and he would need to drill and fill. we suggested extraction to allow the front lower adult teeth to un-crowd each other. is this dentist out for the money, or is it really necessary to keep that tooth in?

Are we being taken by a dentist?
Your child won't be naturally losing that tooth for at least 3-5 years from now, so filling the baby tooth is the best option. Her teeth are already crammed together so if that tooth is removed, the other teeth will move into that space. If that happens, the permanent tooth definitely won't have room to come in. It would also try to dissolve the roots of whatever is in its path, causing more problems. The dentist is just thinking of what's best for your child. If the tooth can be saved, he will try to save it. The tooth is important to keep the space there, so that the permanent tooth can come in.
Reply:Now how do I put this with out sounding mad. This is your child and he or she is only 7 years old and if you have the tooth extracted the teeth next to it will move and close up the space left by the extraction. The permanent tooth will not be coming in until your child is 10 Or 11 years old and let me tell if you have problems with crowding now you differently will then. Now a spacer can be cemented in between the teeth to keep the space open but I really would have the tooth fill because just because it is a baby tooth doesn't mean if left untouched that the decay only will get larger and cause a abscess and then a rct will be need and that is addition pain and expense. I know I have seen grown men cry because of an infection in a tooth can you see a child. Know get with your Dentist and please discus your options and no the Dentist isn't trying to take you. Its a cavity and now you need to decide what to do about it.
