Hi, a receptionist at a dentist's office (who I've known since I was 5, am currently 20, I know the dentist as well) is desperately seeking some basic office/clerical (filing, photocopying etc.) part-time help, and he said that if I'm interested, I should call sometime, though he is willing to wait for a few more weeks (since I have a full-time course load at university + part-time job, but I'll only have 1 course + part-time job starting in mid-April). He even said that I don't need to bring in a resume %26amp; they will try to be as flexible as possible for me. I still have to call to confirm if he/they are willing to hire me, but if they are and/or want to set up a meeting to discuss times, should I still bring in a resume? What should I put in the objective line, or should I just leave it out?
If this works out, and the times work out with my uni. summer courses + my current retail part time job, I don't need to tell my retail manager right? Any suggestions/answers appreciated! Thanks!
Clerical Job through Family Friend?
Call and confirm and set up a meeting. Even though a resume was not requested, I would have one prepared in case something changes. When you make the appointment, ask if they will need you to bring anything.
I would keep the resume in a folder in the car if possible. This way you will have one available if asked, but you will not appear to be over the top.
As far as the objective line, I would word it so that it applies to the office position you are hoping to get.
I don't see the need of having to tell your retail manager as long as the hours will not interfere with the job you hold with him or her.
Reply:I think you should go for the job.
Bringing in your resume when they asked you not to is a bit over-kill...
you don't have to tell your retail manager if you dont want to.
Good luck, hope the job works out!!
Reply:I think you pretty much have the job if you want it so bringing a resume is unnecessary. Sounds like you just need to give a date you can start and don't have to go through the whole interview process (lucky you)!!
