im having porcelain veneers done on my upper teeth, im having it done privately as my family dentist said i would achieve better results. however he said before theyre done he wants to see whether the backs of my teeth can be restored. they took xrays and a mold, but im confused i thought tooth enamel could not be replaced once lost. can anyone explain this, or ave any idea of the treatment my dentist is thinking of? thanks in advance xxxxxx
Confused. dentists help please?
enamel can be put in you teeth in order to repair them
Reply:No, enamel cannot be added to teeth once its gone. Once you wear through the enamel, the denitn is exposed and its much more soft and leads to sensitivity and faster decay. They can add either composite or porcelain to the surface of teeth to protect them. Some dentists can also bond a clear light cured coat to teeth to prevent decay in the grooves, for example. Ask you dentist if this is an option for you.
Reply:Hi your dentist would either give crowns witch protect the tooth from decay of the enamel or if they are already enameless then this will prevent it and allow 50% more pressure on it . your dentist may whant to give u inlays wich are like fragments of crown wich sit in the fractured part of your tooth/teeth and also will last a long time u can get inlays or crown in gold porcalin and silver i prefer gold it is the strongest i have a gold inlay because i had a root canal and it had definetly restored my tooth
hope this helped Cee* Bee*
