Choosing to be a dentist is a smart decision because it will be beneficial to them and their family in the future. The pay is great for a starting pay and they will be respected because of their title. This job is also very fulfilling because it is a way of giving back to the community. Dentists are looked up to as trustworthy and respected people in society.
when i read my conclusion it doesnt seem to flow nicely.. can someone help me make it better? and does the first sentence in my conclusion sound a little off? help!

Reply:My brother-in-law is a dentist and he would be amused at your essay. For him, dentistry isn't an occupation. Although he makes a terrific income, he didn't enter the field for that particular reason. Nor does he feel he's "giving back to the community." He views his position as a "vital necessity for the community and a valuable service." Becoming a dentist was a long and arduous task, yet his dedication to his schooling is now reflected in the service he performs. Additionally, he stays abreast of his field by attending seminars and sharing information with colleagues and familiarizing himself with the latest techniques. Why do dentists have the license to do orthodontic treatment? They're not specialized like Orthodontists!?
I had braces twice. The first time i got them from a dentist when i was 15, who fooled me into getting them from him and totally messed my teeth. I had to get braces again at age 20, and this time, i went to an Orthodontist. Since i had braces previously, the result of my teeth wasn't as great, but a lot better. I spent a lot of money (10 grand in total) and looking back, i wonder why the heck the government allows dentists, who know very little about braces, to do orthodontic treatment? It's like my family physician doing a heart surgery. It's very frustrating!

Just because your dentist wasn't good at braces, doesn't mean others aren't as well.

Okay first off, I ask for people not to judge me or my family with this question I am going to ask. You see I have been to the dentists once in my life (I can barely remember it) but I had a filling done on one my back molar.
Anywho as I got older my parents stopped taking me to the dentists and although I brushed 2 times a day my molars were still in pain after a few years. My parents refused to take me to the dentists. My dad knocked my back tooth (the one with the filling) clean out one night.
So at this point I was about 14 with a molar missing and a gap inbetween two molars on the right side of my mouth. As my parents wouldnt take me to the dentist and I was now too ashamed to go I just ate at the other side of my mouth. Now at 15 the same thing happened except my tooth got a cavity and I had to pull it out myself.
Now im 17 and I think my upper molar has a cavity, I have lost 2 adult teeth already. What shall I do? If I went to the dentist would they judge me?

dentists are professionals, and they wont judge you on the appearance of your mouth. It actually sounds like, considering your lack of dental care, you have a pretty set of teeth--no care for almost a lifetime and only 2 lost teeth?? Thats incredible! So no, they wont judge, most will be excited to teach you proper dental habits and witness the progress!!!

An admittance examination is required before applications are accepted. Competition is great requiring high grade point averages in undergraduate school. All in all 8 years minimum. Unless you are lucky and have parents who can pay your way through college or be lucky enough to have a rich uncle,
most young dentists graduate with a student loan debt of no less than $150,000 ( and this may be low with the exorbitant college tuition these days ). And oh yes, you cannot bankruptcy out of student loans. You pay them off or take them to the grave.
As for what a dentist earns? That is all dependent upon how hard you want to work during the day, how many days a year you work, how good are you at what you do, your people skills, and what type of dental care you provide.
Family time is again dependent upon how many hours you work.
Generally speaking dentists have much more free time than our physician colleagues. Dentists also do not get the numerous emergency calls. Most every weekend is free unless you choose to work them.

I need a pediatric dentist that accept humana family HMO in palm beach?
HMO's are tough, I recommend doing research on google or dogpile. I had an HMO plan and they are now billing me for things that were supposed to be covered. Call some of the local offices and tell them what plan you have, what's the worst they can say? "No we don't accept that plan" I'd also tell you to apply for KidCare or Healthy Kids if you live in Florida.
Is there anything our family doctor can perscribe for my son when he goes to the dentist?
my son was tramatized the last time we went to the dentist and he is soo scared to go back again, last time we were in there he was screaming and crying he was just so scared and we even had a pediadentist. i called the dentist earlier this week to ask if they did the consious sedation but they did not. is there anything i can ask our family doctor to give him to calm his nervse so it wont be so tramatizing for him this time.
please if anybody has gone through this or knows anything i would realy apreciate it .

The problem with doing conscious sedation is that it is done with an IV- not a good proposition for a child who's already leary of the dentist. They may be able to prescribe a mild sedative for him, at least to help him get calm, and you can ask the pediadentist or dentist about that. I don't know what it was that traumatized him, but it might be best if the next few visits were not for some procedure that could hurt in the least. My eldest daughter had a serious dental phobia when she first came to live with us. Working with the dentist, we arranged a visit where I was the patient, and she gloved up to help (alongside the real assistant). We did an exam and cleaning on one visit, and a replacement filling on the next. She got to see everything, except done on me. We worked up very slowly with her dental work, doing things that didn't require needles. When she had the first filling that required a shot, we used Benadryl to get her drowsy first. I also sat at the head of the chair, so I could have my hands alongside her head, and hold her hand. Eventually we were able to get her comfortable enough to go without it being such a traumatic event for her. So if you have an accomodating dentist, that might also help you with your son. I have great sympathy. I was born with enamel hypoplasia, very severely, and had to have multiple oral surgeries done as a child. That was way before they did sedation or even had pediatric dentists really, and I was often strapped down for the procedures done under local anesthetic. The work on the front teeth left me with such memories that now I have that particular area done only if I am out, asleep. I am plenty old enough to rationalize it all, but my sane mind skips out when we talk work on those front teeth. So anything you can do to spare him that kind of trauma is worth it in the long run. My daughter is now all grown, and goes to the dentist without problems. She remembers all those first trips, though, and has said all the efforts really did help. She was 7 at the time, and it took until she was almost 8 to get things under control. If your son is younger than that, it might not work so well. If he is old enough to understand though, talk with him - a lot, and see what you can do to work with him. Good luck, and bless you both.
Reply:I hate needles and the last time I had a cavity filled the dentist recommend that I take a bit more of the recommend dose of Benedryl. I would definitely check with his doctor first though.

I was totally taken in by that story and I found a little toy under my pillow the next morning!! Hope it'll help with your case _^__^_.

Family Dentistry with kids 13,10,and 9, they have medi-cal insurance, does the dentist clean their teeth?
They live with Dad. I have parenting time Thursday's after school and every other Sunday. They went to the dentist. Had xray's of teeth, and a floride rinse with bubble gum flavor was done. They needed a cleaning! The stupid women behinde the counter said "The dentist only cleans adults, not children" I almost went flying across the counter to give her what for! Family Dentistry says on the front door, no doubt. Should I make an appointment for a Thursday and take them myself? I really want to find another dentist, But the kids live with Dad. Can I do that?

Ok, first of all what Spartan said is completely ignorant and incorrect. Children are supposed to get their teeth cleaned, we start hygiene in our office as young as 3 years old sometimes. AND it does not make you lose any coating on your teeth, omg, lol! Getting your teeth cleaned is 100% safe and very good for your teeth and the only thing being removed is tartar and debris. Children 13, 10 and 9 should be getting routine cleanings, re-think your dentist.

Good general care and eating habit should be able to maintain their good oral hygine. you better practise that and teach children to take care of their teeth.
